California Announces Statewide Preventing Violent Extremism Program

The California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) is soliciting applications to fund non-profit pilot projects that support the Preventing Violent Extremism (PVE) goal outlined in the California 2017-2020 Homeland Security Strategy. The PVE Non-Profit Pilot Grant Program seeks to support five prevention or intervention projects that will develop innovative and sustainable products by the end of the 18-month performance period. This funding opportunity also aims to strengthen partnerships between community organizations and local, county, and state governments. (The Request for Projects is available here. Supporting documents can be found at Cal OES website.)

Cal OES will host a webinar to address questions regarding this RFP on Wednesday, May 30, 2018. To join the webinar, visit the webinar-hosting website or call (1-408-740-7256; Meeting ID: 866 647 599) on May 30th, 2018 at 10:00 AM PT.

Additionally, Cal OES has launched a website equipped with a resources database and a Community Portal, which is an interactive social media platform that facilitates information sharing of best practices, knowledge, program models, and challenges among practitioners. This website also hosts a virtual training aimed at assisting interested community leaders in building program frameworks to enhance local resiliency against all forms of violence, at no cost to participants. Interested participants should register at caloes.ca.gov/pve using the registration code: PVERegistration.
