Karen is a Senior Security Manager for the Coca-Cola Company (TCCC). She is responsible for the TCCC Safe Workplace Program (formerly workplace violence program), the Global Special Events Program, the Executive Protection Program, Liaison, and Criminal & Civil Investigations. Karen is a member of ASIS International (ASIS), Association of Threat Assessment Professionals (ATAP) and the Corporate Executive Protection Leadership Council (CEPLC). Karen joined TCCC in December of 2019 following a 28 year career with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) of the US Department of Justice. She held senior executive (SES) positions as the Special Agent in Charge of field divisions in both San Diego and El Paso, and Associate Special Agent in Charge of the field division in Chicago. Karen was also a recognized subject matter expert in managing trauma for both victims and employees originating from critical incidents (e.g., shootings, aircraft and vehicle accident fatalities, and terminal health conditions). She was selected as one of the first female Executive Protection Agents and served on Administrator Karen Tandy’s protection team. Karen received extensive training related to this role which included the CIA Protective Agent Course. She conducted threat assessments, advanced locations/events, coordinated with US and foreign government security details, and accompanied Administrator Tandy on local, domestic and international travel. Karen further served as a Division Public Information Officer, DEA Academy Leadership Instructor and as a DEA operations liaison in Peru. In 2019, Karen received the Presidential Rank Meritorious Executive Award. Karen holds a B.S. degree in Political Science from the University of Tennessee.
