SCI Instructor Dr. John P. Sullivan Participated in an International Symposium on Combatting Organized Crime in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil

Dr. John P. Sullivan, SCI Instructor specializing in organized crime in Latin America, participated in an international symposium, Simpósio Internacional sobre o Combate ao Crime Organizado, sponsored by Escola Nacional de Formação e Aperfeiçoamento de Magistrados da Justiça Militar da União (ENAJUM), the Brazilian National School for Training Military Magistrates, on combatting organized crime in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil.  Dr. Sullivan, participated in two panels: 1) the opening panel: “Painel – A experiência mundial no Combate ao Crime Organizado (Experiences in Combatting Organized Crime)” on 18 June 2024; and 2) “Organizações criminosas: cooperação e internacionalização (Criminal organizations: cooperation and internationalization)” on 19 June 2024. The multiday conference, presented in Portuguese and English with simultaneous translation, was attended by military judges, prosecutors, and military and naval officers, as well as national and state military police focused on addressing transnational organized crime, criminal insurgency, third-generation gangs, mafias, and criminal armed groups in Brazil and beyond.
