Targeted Violence Prevention

August 5, 2019

Dr. Tony Beliz will lead a day-long training session on the critical elements relevant to violence and threat risk assessment and include data from the (LACDMH) School Threat Assessment and Response Team (START), which has been in operation since 2009 and has assessed, consulted, and managed in excess of 1000 cases.

Attendees will learn about emerging trends in targeted violence and use lessons learned from past and recent incidents to manage at-risk students. The training session will use case examples highlighting the assessment process, intervention strategies, interview techniques, and ongoing monitoring of high-risk individuals. Case examples will include ongoing as well as failed cases.

Contact [email protected] to register. Your registration will be on a waiting list while being vetted. Upon acceptance of your application, you will receive a confirmation e-mail containing the address of the class location.
