Hatcher Parnell brings a wealth of experience and dedication to his role as the Director of the Office of Executive Protection Services at the University of Southern California (USC). With a career spanning over three decades in security and operations management, Parnell has consistently demonstrated his commitment to safeguarding individuals and promoting a secure environment.

In his current capacity, Parnell assumes a pivotal role in overseeing the physical security and risk management protocols for USC’s faculty, staff, students, and guests, particularly during university-sponsored events. He meticulously coordinates executive protection efforts in accordance with USC’s comprehensive Executive Protection strategy, ensuring the safety and well-being of all involved. Parnell’s responsibilities extend beyond campus borders, as he collaborates closely with various local, state, national, and international agencies to plan and execute dignitary visits effectively.

Before assuming his current leadership position, Parnell distinguished himself as the Senior Associate Athletic Director of Facilities, Operations, and Game Management within the University of Southern California’s Department of Athletics. During his tenure, he exhibited remarkable organizational prowess and operational acumen, contributing significantly to the seamless functioning of athletic facilities and events.

Parnell’s journey at USC is preceded by an illustrious career at UC Berkeley, where his deep-rooted connection with the institution spans over two decades. Parnell’s tenure with the UC Police Department further honed his skills in law enforcement and security, where he served with distinction as a Corporal in the department’s south side street crime unit.
