Community Service Manager Michelle VelascoCommunity Service Manager Michelle Velasco is a 20-year veteran of University of Southern California (USC) Department of Public Safety.

In 2000, she was hired as a Community Service Officer, working assignment in Asset Protection, Residential Protection, and Field Services. In 2007, she was promoted to supervisor, where she entered in the Training Division and found her passion for teaching. In August 2018, she was promoted to Community Service Manager, overseeing the public safety sections at the University Village, Bookstore and Libraries. She is currently a certified instructor for Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Non-violent Crisis Intervention, Rape Aggression Defense System (RAD), California Peace Officer Standards Training (POST) Cultural Diversity, First Aid, CPR, AED, Racial Profiling, Tactical Communications, and Principled Policing Procedural Justice & Implicit Bias.

In 2012, Michelle completed POST Instructor Development Institute (IDI) Level 1 with the Los Angeles Police Department and IDI Level 2 with Napa Valley Criminal Justice Training Center. In 2013, she was awarded the Star Award in recognition of superior performance throughout the year. Michelle completed the IDI Advanced Instructor Development Level 3 course in 2016 and graduated from SCI’s Public Safety Leadership Program (PSLP) in 2019.
