Officer Spotlight – Sergeant Daisy O’Dowd
Sgt. Daisy O’Dowd is a 16-year veteran of the Long Beach Police Department and currently assigned to the Department Operations Center where she manages citywide patrol scheduling.
As an officer, she worked various assignments including academy report writing instructor, Honor Guard Detail member, Field Training Officer, Public Information Officer, and the department’s Field Training Coordinator overseeing the field training program. In 2021, she promoted to sergeant where she worked patrol and was a Directed Enforcement Team sergeant.
Sgt. O’Dowd holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from California State University, Fullerton and is currently completing a Master of Science degree in Law Enforcement Public Safety Leadership from the University of San Diego. She recently completed the SCI Public Safety Leadership Program. Completing the program is what inspired her to finish her master’s degree and continue evolving as a leader and mentor.
