Jessie Redd is the Managing Director of the Safe Communities Institute (SCI), where she assists with the strategic direction of the institute and handles operations. Ms. Redd manages SCI’s certificate programs, facilitates research, oversees the budget and develops events and other programming and projects. She leads all fundraising and communication activities for the institute, as well as the development and execution of the Safe Communities Institute’s community engagement initiatives and digital presence. She is passionate about helping bridge the gap between law enforcement and the community and serves as the institute’s liaison to community and public safety partners, including local, state and federal agencies.
Ms. Redd earned a Master of Public Administration with honors from Florida International University (FIU) and holds a certificate in Homeland Security and Emergency Management. She received a BA in Sociology with a minor in Forensics and Criminality from USC in 2013. She is also Community Emergency Response Team certified. In 2021, she was awarded the USC Price Sterling Franklin Outstanding Staff Award.
Outside of her work at USC, Ms. Redd is a member of the Women in Homeland Security – SoCal chapter and a member of the Pi Alpha Alpha Honors Society for Public Administration. She is also a mentor in the USC Black Alumni Association’s “Legacy through Leadership Mentoring Program.”
