Building an Inclusive Fire Service

During Black History Month, SCI hosted a Lunch & Learn to discuss the current state of systemic discrimination within the fire services. Viewers heard first-hand from Black firefighters and learned about their experiences. The discussion was moderated by Beverly White from NBC4 Los Angeles. Panelists included:

  • Captain Robert Hawkins, Los Angeles Fire Department and Executive Vice President of the Stentorians
  • Captain Tony Hardy, San Diego Fire-Rescue Department
  • Captain Paul Washington, New York Fire Department and former President of the Vulcan Society
  • Firefighter Anita Daniel, New York Fire Department
