The Los Angeles Police Department will host the LA Region Security Summit on Nov. 15, 2017 to discuss contemporary issues in the security environment, as well as an updated briefing on the mass shooting in Las Vegas. Safe Communities Institute (SCI) Director Dr. Erroll G. Southers will speak at the event on the current state of homegrown violent extremism and emerging threats to public safety. The Summit will also include remarks and discussion from: LA City Mayor Eric Garcetti; LA Chief of Police Charlie Beck; FBI Associate Deputy Director David L. Bowdich; NYPD Deputy Police Commissioner John Miller; and Brian Michael Jenkins, the senior advisor to the RAND Corporation president.
