Across the United States, Americans congregate in faith-based venues to worship, learn, play, and bond as a community. However, public gatherings are vulnerable and attractive targets to adversaries with the intent to inflict mass causalities. Join SCI Director Dr. Erroll Southers for a discussion on the threat from homegrown violent extremism and protecting houses of worship.

Following Dr. Southers’ talk, Irvine Police Officer Rick Gramer will discuss the California Office of Emergency Services Non-Profit Security Grant Program. Officer Gramer will present best practices, lessons learned and how to identify the best approach to completing the vulnerability assessment portion of the grant application for 2020.
